A person was fatally shot on a Metro bus in South Los Angeles Wednesday by a young man involved in a dispute that began near a bus stop and continued on a Metro Line 206 bus.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded shortly before 2 p.m. to reports of a shooting near Normandie Avenue and West 39th Street, Metro media relations communications director Jose Ubaldo told City News Service.
During the incident on the bus, one person from the group fired a weapon, striking at least one other individual, according to Metro.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was later pronounced dead, CBS reported, citing information from the LAPD.
The unidentified suspects left the area before the arrival of officers.
”Metro extends its condolences to the victim’s family,” the public transit agency said in a statement.
Anyone with information regarding the dispute or fatal shooting was urged to contact the LAPD, which is leading the investigation. Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
