A skydiver was injured Thursday in a hard landing adjacent to a Lake Elsinore intersection.
The “skydiver down” call was received at 4:40 p.m. Thursday in the area of Corydon Road and Plessner Way, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that the parachutist came down just west of the intended landing zone at Skydive Elsinore, suffering unspecified minor to moderate injuries when he hit the ground.
There were initial reports that a second skydiver was also hurt a block away on Bryant Street, but sheriff’s deputies investigated and determined that the only victim was the one who made the hard landing near Corydon and Plessner.
The party, whose identity was not disclosed, was taken to nearby Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for treatment.
There was no word on what may have caused the parachutist to miss the landing zone.
Skydive Elsinore runs parachute operations daily when the weather permits, with aircraft departing from a private strip about a half-mile southeast of the lake.
