A suspect was in custody Friday for allegedly assaulting a man in broad daylight in Beverly Hills.
Officers responded just after 12:40 p.m. to the area of Wilshire and San Vicente boulevards on multiple reports of an assault with a deadly weapon, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department. Officers established a perimeter and a suspect was taken into custody, police said.
Police said the victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but the extent of the person’s injuries was unclear.
Multiple broadcast reports indicated that the victim, a man, was struck with a hammer, then possibly hit by a car. Police could not immediate confirm the reports.
San Vicente was closed in the area while the investigation continued.
