Scheduled street and utility work improvements in Indio next week were expected to create traffic delays for motorists.
City officials issued a construction alert that will be in place from Tuesday until March 31 at Indio Boulevard between the Union Pacific Railroad tracks and Burr Street.
Construction work will be underway on the north side of Indio Boulevard, which will include new water lines, sidewalks, curbs, driveways and road widening.
Westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, and one of the two northbound turn lanes from Jefferson Street to westbound Indio Boulevard will be closed.
Officials advised motorists to expect delays, to plan to use alternate routes and to allow extra travel time.
