A volunteer opportunity was expected to be available for residents and community members interested in training and learning about environmental education and waste reduction efforts Saturday in Moreno Valley.
The Riverside County Department of Waste Resources will host its first of three volunteer orientation training courses from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at Waste Resources’ Headquarters, at 14310 Frederick St.
“This program is a great way for residents to get involved, give back and help lead change in their own community,” Volunteer Services Coordinator Mike Perez said in a statement.
Volunteers will learn about department information and resources, such as composting, recycling and waste reduction, to connect with residents through school programs, public education and community events.
Participants must be 15 years or older, bilingual individuals are encouraged to apply and no prior experience is necessary.
Officials said that after training, volunteers will have a strong network of community leaders committed to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
“Our volunteers are the heart of our outreach efforts, and together we’re making a tremendous difference,” George Podolsky, volunteer service coordinator, said in a statement.
To register, go to rcwaste.org/volunteer, or call the department at 951-486-3200.
