A 29-year-old man was killed as a result of a two-vehicle collision in Cathedral City, authorities said Friday.
Bryan Verduzco of Cathedral City was fatally injured shortly after 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the 35000 block of Cathedral Canyon Drive, according to the Cathedral City Police Department.
Police said a vehicle traveling northbound on Cathedral Canyon Drive was struck from behind by another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, which caused it to overturn. Authorities declared Verduzo to be at fault in the crash.
Verduzo was not wearing a seatbelt when his vehicle overturned and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two occupants of the other vehicle were not injured.
“The city of Cathedral City is reminding its residents and visitors that awareness is important when driving on the roadway,” the department stated.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
