A suspect who slammed his pickup truck into the vehicle of a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy at a gas station in Commerce was still on the loose Wednesday after deputies searched for him in an adjacent neighborhood.
The deputy was struck by the suspect around 12:18 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of East Washington Boulevard and Fidelia Avenue and immediately drove away from the gas station. According to reports from the scene, approximately two miles away in the 6000 block of Southside Street, the suspect crashed into at least one parked vehicle before abandoning the truck and fleeing on foot into a nearby residential neighborhood.
