A 38-year-old man who was struck and killed by a Metrolink train in Sun Valley was identified by county authorities Friday.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victim as Reynaldo Villanueva.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department were called to 9377 San Fernando Road and Sheldon Street at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday regarding a collision. When they arrived at the scene, they learned from witnesses that Villanueva was on the tracks when the southbound train struck him, an LAPD officer told City News Service.

Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department were called to the scene, where they pronounced Villanueva dead.

The LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
