A sheriff’s patrol vehicle was struck by another driver Wednesday while positioned to divert traffic around a fallen tree in Rancho Mirage.
Deputies responded shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday to a report of a downed tree near Highway 111 and Frank Sinatra Drive, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
An unoccupied patrol vehicle was parked in the roadway to redirect traffic when an approaching vehicle, traveling at an unconfirmed speed, collided with it, Vickers said.
No injuries were reported.
The circumstances surrounding the crash were not immediately available.
No arrests were made, and the investigation was ongoing.
