A driver who fatally struck a man and drove away from the scene in Compton is on the loose Thursday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies from the department’s Compton Station responded at 9:38 p.m. Wednesday to North Alameda and East Dixon streets where they found the victim, a watch commander at the Compton Station told City News Service.
Paramedics from the Compton Fire Department responded to the scene and attempted to revive the unconscious victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver drove away from the scene in an unknown direction and did not stop to render aid to the victim, deputies said. There was no vehicle description.
The collision closed the intersection of North Alameda and East Dixon while deputes investigated the scene of the collision.
