The 41st Los Angeles Marathon is airing on NBC4 and Telemundo 52 / KVEA Sunday as part of a new partnership organizers said “expands access for English and Spanish-speaking audiences across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms,” the McCord Foundation, which produces the race, announced.

In recent years, expanded live LA Marathon coverage has been provided by KTLA5.

The new NBC4-LA Marathon alliance is set to continue until at least 2029.

“This partnership ensures that audiences across Southern California and beyond can experience every inspiring moment in both English and Spanish” the foundation announcement said. “Coverage will span across the stations’ broadcast, digital and streaming platforms to deliver local and national viewership opportunities. The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon is one of the great marathons of the world and NBC4 and Telemundo 52’s suite of platforms allows us the national reach we haven’t previously had,” Murphy Reinschreiber, The McCourt Foundation’s chief operating officer said. “With the Olympics coming to Los Angeles, the marathon being an iconic Olympic sport, and NBC4 being the Olympic partner, what better relationship could we have?”

Reinschreiber noted that 38% of the marathon’s participants are Hispanic, which makes adding “Telemundo 52 as an outlet … especially gratifying.”

Award-winning filmmaker Jon Dunham and The McCourt Foundation have co-produced the marathon’s live programming for the past five years and earned an Emmy nomination for the 2024 broadcast.

Marathon commentator Toni Reavis has returned for his 41st year and is being joined by three-time Olympian Deena Kastor.

“It takes a highly skilled and dedicated team to create live coverage of a major city marathon,” Dunham said. “We are excited to work with KNBC and Tata Communications, to deliver the highest quality broadcast.”

Officials at NBC4 and Telemundo also welcomed the new partnership and the ability to provide bilingual coverage.

“Partnering with the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon allows us to celebrate one of the city’s most iconic events and deliver coverage that reflects the diversity of Southern California,” said Todd Mohktari, president and general manage of Telemundo 52 and NBC4. “Through NBC4 and Telemundo 52, along with our digital and streaming platforms, we’re proud to deliver … in both English and Spanish, connecting communities and making this world-class event accessible to all.”
