Authorities Sunday continued investigating a head-on, two-vehicle crash that killed a woman in Thermal.

The crash was reported shortly after 1 p.m. Friday in the 58000 block of Fillmore Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

The agency stated that crews encountered major damage to two vehicles, and a total of four people were hospitalized.

Fillmore street was closed in both directions for an undetermined amount of time.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer David Torres, a Honda Accord occupied by a male driver, female passenger and a juvenile in the rear seat were southbound on Fillmore when they veered for reasons unknown into a northbound lane and crashed head-on into a Toyota Camry occupied by a male driver.

The drivers from both vehicles were taken to area hospitals by ambulance, and the woman and juvenile were taken to a nearby hospital by helicopter.

The female passenger of the Accord, identified as 25-year-old Daysi Olivas of Thermal, was pronounced dead at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, according to the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

The conditions of the men and the juvenile were unknown.
