Los Angeles Police Department officers shot a man who allegedly fired a gun at them in the Skid Row section in downtown Los Angeles Thursday morning.
The shooting was reported about 4:10 a.m. in the area of Seventh Street and Ceres Avenue, according to an LAPD spokesman.
Officers had responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the location.
The age and condition of the suspect were not immediately available.
There were no immediate reports of officers being injured.
According to Fox11, which cited police at the scene, the suspect was in a recreational vehicle and had fired shots at people. Officers responded and ordered him to come out, which he did.
Still armed, the man was then shot, the station reported.
Streets in the immediate area were closed for the police investigation.
In video from the scene, shots could be heard ringing out amid a large police presence. A police SUV was stopped with its front end on a sidewalk.
Video also showed the suspect being loaded into an ambulance.
A Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman confirmed that paramedics took a male of unknown age and condition to a hospital.
