Flames that engulfed a semi truck spread to a small spot of vegetation Thursday, causing a brush fire on westbound Interstate 10 near the area of Whitewater.
The non-injury blaze was reported shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday near the Whitewater rest area exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency stated that a tractor trailer was fully involved in fire and spread to a very small spot of vegetation.
Six engines and one water tender were requested to assist at the scene, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
No injuries or road closures were reported.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
