Dedee Verdin, a former deputy director of communications for City Councilman Curren Price, will serve as the head of media, video and graphic services for California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, it was announced Tuesday.
In her new role as deputy of communications, Verdin is expected to oversee media relations and press operations, social media strategy and content production, and oversee video and graphic services to support communications across all platforms for the Secretary of State’s Office.
Verdin will also be tasked with managing digital outreach initiatives, designed to improve public understanding of state programs and services.
“I am confident Dedee’s dedication to public service and experience in strategic communications, media relations and content creation, will be of great value to the Office of the Secretary of State and will serve our programs well,” Weber said in a statement.
From 2018 to 2026, Verdin worked for Price’s office. She previously served in dual roles as communications associate and a homelessness response team associate. Between 2011 and 2018, she was a self-employed photojournalist and multimedia producer, documenting major civic and cultural events.
Verdin earned her bachelor of arts degree in journalism from California State University Northridge with an emphasis on photojournalism and a collateral in sociology.
