A windblown dust advisory was in effect Monday for the Coachella Valley, according to the South Coast Air Quality Management District.
The advisory was set from 2 p.m. Sunday until 11:59 p.m. Monday.
Dust blowing as a result of high gust winds was predicted to cause the air quality index to reach “unhealthy for sensitive groups” or higher, especially in the northwestern Coachella Valley.
Residents in the affected areas were advised to limit outdoor and rigorous physical activity, to remain indoors with windows closed and use air conditioning or an air purifier.
Air quality can vary by hour depending on wind conditions.
