Showers and gusty winds were expected through the rest of the weekend in most of Riverside County.

“As the low-pressure system moves inland tonight through tomorrow, the westerly winds will strengthen and the showers will become more widespread,” the National Weather Service announced on Saturday.

Sunday temperatures were expected to reach 67 in the downtown Riverside area, 65 in Temecula, 64 in Hemet, 78 in Coachella Valley and 75 in Palm Springs.

Gusty winds were expected in most areas of Riverside County, prompting a wind advisory and an air quality alert in the Coachella Valley, where winds were expected to be stronger ranging from 25 to 35 mph and gusts of up to 50 mph, according to the NWS.

The wind advisory and air quality alert were going to remain effective until 11 a.m. Sunday in the areas of the Coachella Valley and San Gorgonio Pass near Banning.

Levels of particle pollution can vary by time and location depending on emissions and local weather conditions, updates on air quality can be found at www.aqmd.gov/alertinfo.
