A total of 20 people were arrested during a DUI overnight checkpoint in the city of Riverside that concluded Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted at Arlington Avenue east of Streeter Avenue on Friday night from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, according to the Riverside Police Department.

A total of 811 vehicles were screened, from which 16 were arrested for allegedly operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license, the police department announced.

Three others were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, and one was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, according to the RPD.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
