A 34-year-old man who was fatally struck in a hit-and-run collision in North Hollywood was identified Monday.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s North Hollywood Division were called at 1:53 a.m. Wednesday to Magnolia Boulevard just west of Tujunga Avenue near the Hollywood (170) Freeway and North Hollywood Recreation Center Park, an LAPD spokeswoman told City News Service.

Police said a gray, newer-model BMW, possibly a Series 5 model, was being driven west on Magnolia when it struck the victim, a man in his 30s who was crossing the street outside a marked crosswalk. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was identified Monday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner as William Lane, who sustained blunt force injuries.

The driver continued west on Magnolia without stopping, police said.

Anyone with information that could help identify the driver was urged to call the LAPD’s Valley Traffic Division at 818-644-8115 to speak with Officer Freeman or 818-644-8028 to speak with Detective Barragan. Those wishing to remain anonymous can submit information through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477) or at lacrimestoppers.org.
