Police Tuesday are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach near the Los Angeles River that left one man wounded but in stable condition.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded at approximately 9:46 p.m. Sunday to the area of the Los Angeles River and East Artesia Boulevard regarding an assault with a deadly weapon call. When they arrived, the officers learned a man had been shot and sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper body, the police department said.

The victim was taken to a hospital by Long Beach Fire Department personnel in stable condition. The suspect ran away from the scene before the officers arrived.

The suspect’s, motive, and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation, police said.
