A 63-year-old man who was fatally stabbed near Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles was identified Thursday by county authorities.
Timothy Wittenbrink was identified as the victim by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office.
Los Angeles Police Department officers responded at 9:46 p.m. Tuesday to the 500 block of North Main between Winston and Sixth streets regarding a stabbing call. When they arrived at the scene, witnesses told police Wittenbrink had been stabbed during a confrontation with a suspect, an LAPD spokeswoman told City News Service.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene, where they pronounced Wittenbrink dead.
Video of the incident shows a busy and active crime scene investigation with yellow tape cordoning off the area, a tent covering Wittenbrink where his legs can be seen, three detectives and a photographer documenting and collecting evidence and a couple of patrol cars.
There was no suspect description released.
