Los Angeles city officials announced funding Thursday for poetry readings, arts festivals, block parties, music and other public arts events in Reseda, Watts, Venice and Little Armenia.

The Department of Cultural Affairs awarded the Arts Activation Fund grants to four events, with each receiving $15,000.

The events are:

— the Reseda Boulevard Summer Event Series featuring art installations, performance art, poetry readings, art laser shows, dancing and an art-walk style map;

— the ARTWARS.LA arts festival in Watts on May 7;

— a block party in Venice that will include open studios, workshops and cultural programming by community artists; and

— the Luys i Luso Installation showcasing Armenian films and music on April 28.

The grants are given out bimonthly, with between eight to 16 projects expected to be funded this year.
