The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped Thursday for the 30th time in 31 days, decreasing 3.2 cents to $5.509, its lowest amount since March 13.

The average price has dropped 65.7 cents over the past 31 days, including 2.1 cents Wednesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It decreased 27 consecutive days, was unchanged Monday and resumed dropping Tuesday.

The average price is 13.8 cents less than one week ago and 65.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 88.5 cents more than one year ago.

The Orange County average price dropped for the 42nd time in 43 days, falling 3.1 cents to $5.375, its lowest amount since March 12. It has dropped 81.7 cents over the past 43 days, including 2.4 cents Wednesday.

The Orange County average price dropped three consecutive days, rose one-tenth of a cent May 17 and resumed dropping May 18. It is 14.7 cents less than one week ago and 73.5 cents lower than one month ago but 81.8 cents more than one year ago.

The national average price resumed decreasing, dropping 1 cent to $3.918, one day after a 33-day streak of deceases totaling 63.8 cents ended with an increase of two-tenths of a cent. It is at its lowest amount since March 20, 8.1 cents less than one week ago and 58.9 cents lower than one month ago, but 69.1 cents more than one year ago.
