A two-alarm fire in a Lake Elsinore home tore Thursday caused major damage and displaced the residents and their pets.
The non-injury blaze was reported at 3:20 p.m. Thursday at 610 W. Pottery St., near North Kellogg Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames raging toward the rear of the single-story structure.
The fire spread into the backyard, threatening to extend to a neighboring residence but was stopped within a couple of minutes by crews.
Two dogs at the fire-damaged house were located by firefighters in their search for potential trapped victims and were carried to safety unscathed.
The fire was knocked down shortly before 4 p.m.
Fire damage left the property uninhabitable, and at least three adults and three pets were displaced.
Red Cross personnel were requested to assist the parties with finding temporary alternate housing.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
