Metro is advising motorists to be aware of express lane work on the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway in south Los Angeles County beginning Friday evening.
Select lanes and ramps along the 105 Freeway will be closed beginning at 8 p.m. through 5 a.m. Monday, according to Metro.
The closures will allow crews to install new overhead sign structures for the I-105 ExpressLanes Project, according to the transportation agency.
“The closures are a necessary step in converting existing carpool lanes into dual ExpressLanes in each direction between the I-405 (San Diego) and I-605 (San Gabriel River) freeways, a transformation designed to deliver faster, safer and more reliable commutes, including cutting travel times in half for ExpressLanes users,” according to a Metro statement.
The eastbound carpool and left main lane of the 105 Freeway will be closed between the 405 Freeway and Prairie Avenue, with only one lane open from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday.
As for ramp closures, between 7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Sunday, the connector from the northbound 405 to the eastbound 105 will be closed, as will the southbound Hawthorne Boulevard on-ramp to the 105 Freeway.
On the westbound side of the 105 Freeway, the carpool and far left lane will be closed between State Street and Wilmington Avenue and the Imperial Highway/Wilmington Avenue on-ramp to the westbound 105 will be closed from 4 a.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday.
“Signed detours will be in place to help motorists navigate through the project area,” Caltrans assured drivers.
