A train collision resulting in the death of one man in Palmdale was under investigation Friday.

Metrolink train 227 struck and killed a pedestrian around 10:52 p.m. Thursday on the 38900 block of the Sierra Highway, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff’s department.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s and Fire departments were still on the scene as of 12:30 a.m. Friday, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Antelope Valley Line trains were delayed and tracks were closed between Vincent Grade and Palmdale due to the fatal collision, according to a statement on the Metrolinks website.

Video from the scene shows passengers having to disembark from the train and walk following the fatal collision.
