A small earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.1 struck Thursday roughly 2.2 miles south-southeast of Compton, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the small temblor struck at 1:32 p.m., roughly 3.3 miles southwest of Paramount and 4.5 miles west of Lakewood.
The temblor struck at a depth of about 8 miles.
