A collision where a vehicle struck and killed a bicyclist in Highland Park was under investigation Thursday.

A grey sedan traveling northbound in the second traffic lane of the 4500 block of North Figueroa Street struck and killed a man who was riding an e-bike and was traveling in the same direction around 11 p.m. Wednesday, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson said.

The man was ejected off the bicycle and collided with the roadway, police said.

The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department personnel and was pronounced dead, according to the LAPD.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, authorities said.

Video from the scene shows a damaged e-bike on the side of the road near a vehicle being examined by police officers.
