A 33-year-old man fatally struck by a vehicle in Hollywood in a suspected case of intoxicated driving was identified by county authorities Monday.
The fatal crash occurred at 10:56 p.m. Sunday on Hollywood Boulevard at Cherokee Avenue, while the victim was in a crosswalk, according to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman.
He was identified as Samuel Brown, whose place of residence was not disclosed, according to the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office.
The crash occurred as people strolled the Walk of Fame in the Hollywood tourist district.
The woman driving the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police said.
Video from the scene showed paramedics attempting to save Brown with CPR before his body was covered with a sheet and a white canopy was moved into place.
A heavily damaged white SUV or sedan was visible at the crash scene.
