A vegetation fire in an unincorporated area bordering Temecula destroyed one structure and burned 35 acres before its progress was stopped Tuesday evening.

The Carancho Fire broke out around 5:59 p.m. Tuesday in the 26800 block of Frens Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters stopped the forward spread of the fire around 9:50 p.m. and the fire was 10% contained.

Two night-flying helicopters assisted the 120 fire department personnel and 20 engines that combated the fire, according to officials.

Crews will remain overnight to conduct mop-up work, officials said.

The destroyed structure was described as ”residential, commercial or other,” but the fire department did not specify.

No injuries were reported.
