A 34-year-old man was arrested Thursday for allegedly setting a vegetation fire on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank.
Burbank and Warner Bros. firefighters responded about 4:10 a.m. to the blaze on the southeastern part of the property, in the area of Valley Heart Drive and California Street, according to Burbank police Sgt. Claudio Losacco.
“First responders found a group of trees burning in a wooded space,” he said.
Firefighters doused the fire 11 minutes after arriving at the scene, Losacco said.
“The fire burned numerous trees, an electrical box and a pole,” he said. “The value of the damaged property is being evaluated.”
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and identified a suspect.
Burbank resident Michael Bauer was detained nearby about 7:45 a.m., Losacco said.
“Bauer, who has no prior criminal history, admitted to starting the fire and led investigators to a lighter and aerosol can he used,” the sergeant alleged. “Bauer said he wanted to burn the trees down ‘because they were not sustainable.”‘
He was arrested on suspicion of arson and was being held in lieu of $75,000 bond, Losacco said.
