John Oliver is being hailed for his take on the Orlando shootings. The HBO star even is likened to Fred Rogers of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

“How is that a comedian like John Oliver can find the right thing to say that is not self-serving, expresses the hopes of a nation, and can put into perspective the criminal actions of a gun-toting hate monger and most of our political leaders and wanna-be leaders fall far short?” Donna Seymour said on Facebook.

Mack Mitchell posted the wisdom of the late Rogers:

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”

During a segment that lasted under 2 minutes, Oliver on “Last Week Tonight” Sunday showed the long lines of people in Florida preparing to give blood.

“That terrorist dips–t is vastly outnumbered,” Oliver said. “Now please enjoy our stupid show.”
