Three Placentia restaurants were burglarized early Wednesday by a window-smashing thief who failed to make off with a large haul, police said.
The string of smash-and-grab break-ins started just after 1 a.m., Placentia Police Capt. Eric Point said, beginning at Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant at 1667 E. Orangethorpe Ave.
Meat Up BBQ at 1450 N. Kraemer Blvd. and Gina Maria’s Pizzeria at 1525 N. Placentia Ave. were also targeted, Point said.
Only a “small amount of cash” was taken in the burglaries because “the tills are emptied out at night” before closing, he said.
Investigators were viewing surveillance video for clues, Point said.
