The Avalon Green Line Station in South Los Angeles, where a man was fatally stabbed Thursday night, was reopened Friday afternoon, but the killer remains at large.

The stabbing was reported at the station at 9:53 p.m. Thursday, said Deputy Lisa Jansen of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. Responding deputies found the victim, who was not immediately identified, dead at the scene.

Metro had set up a bus bridge between its stations in Harbor Gateway and Willowbrook to help commuters get around the closure. The agency announced about 2:30 p.m. that the station had been reopened.

The sheriff’s department did not release a description of the assailant.

Anyone with information about the stabbing was urged to contact the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500. Information may be submitted anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS (8477).
