A man who drove his Mustang into parked vehicles in Anaheim while allegedly intoxicated was under arrest Friday, having been tackled by witnesses while trying to run off, police said.

The hit-and-run driver, a man in his early-to-mid-20s, struck five parked vehicles in the 600 block of South Knott Avenue, then attempted to run away, said Anaheim police Officer John Roman. The man was tackled by a witness “or two” and detained at the scene, he said.

The suspect suffered a cut to his forehead while being detained around 10:35 p.m. Thursday. The parked vehicles sustained moderate front and rear end damage, Roman said.

The suspect admitted to texting just before striking the cars and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Roman said.
