A brush fire scorched two acres early Thursday in a riverbed near the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Irwindale.

The fire was reported at 12:05 a.m. near the freeway’s Live Oak Road exit and was fully contained nearly an hour later, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

No one was injured and no damages were reported, said Irwindale police Sgt. George Zenedajas.

An arson unit was summoned to the scene and the cause of the fire was under investigation, Zenedajas said.

Anyone who may have seen anyone in the area around the time the fire broke out, or anything suspicious, was urged to call Irwindale Police at (626) 430-2244, ext. 245.
