A 23-year-old transient pleaded guilty Thursday to setting a series of blazes in Anaheim and was immediately sentenced to more than three years in prison.
Victor Luis Flores admitted six felony counts of arson and was sentenced to three years and four months in prison.
Flores has a lengthy criminal history of drug-related convictions dating back to 2014.
Firefighters from Anaheim and Orange responded to the Gypsum Fire about 6 p.m., July 3, just south of the Riverside (91) Freeway and west of Gypsum Canyon Road. The blaze was brought under control in about an hour. No one was injured.
While firefighters battled that blaze, authorities received a report about a suspect setting brush fires along the south side of the freeway west of the Gypsum Fire, according to Anaheim police Sgt. Daron Wyatt.
According to the criminal complaint filed against Flores, he set the fires at the Eastern Transportation (241) Corridor and Gypsum Canyon Road and along the Riverside Freeway between the Weir Canyon and Imperial Highway exits.
Flores had six drug-related cases filed against him in 2014, one in 2015 and two last year. He has had probation revoked and restored multiple times, according to court records.
