A Sherman Oaks man who allegedly killed his wife in front of their 12-year-old son is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday on murder and other charges.
Aurelio Teran, 38, is charged with one count each of murder, dissuading a witness from testifying, child abuse, injuring a spouse and attempting to dissuade a witness from testifying, along with two counts of criminal threats.
Teran allegedly stabbed his 32-year-old wife, Viridiana, to death on Aug. 26, one day after attacking and threatening her, prosecutors said. The couple’s son was not physically injured.
Teran allegedly fled to Ventura County, where he was arrested Aug. 28 after being struck by a car. A Ventura County sheriff’s sergeant who responded to a call of a “pedestrian on the roadway” recognized Teran as the suspect being sought in his wife’s stabbing death, the Los Angeles Police Department reported last month.
If convicted as charged, Teran faces a maximum of 25 years to life in state prison, according to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.
