Donald Trump may not like Stephen Curry (for having rejected a White House visit), but the Golden State Warriors point guard is the only person named in the new Republican tax-overhaul plan.
“Along with the release of the bill, the House Ways and Means Committee released an explainer walking through potential arguments against the bill,” noted CNN.
“In a section about loopholes and how individual income might be treated as business income, lowering the person’s tax rate, Curry was used as an example of the type of person who would not be allowed to abuse loopholes.”
The bill says: “Our legislation will ensure this much-needed tax relief goes to the local job creators it’s designed to help by distinguishing between the individual wage income of NBA All-Star Stephen Curry and the pass-through business income of Steve’s Bike Shop.”
CNN and others took “Steve’s Bike Shop” to mean Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
On Twitter, Curry wondered “if Steve’s bike shop is hiring.”

The Hill said a spokesperson for GOP leaders in the House Ways and Means Committee said: “When we talk about how tax reform will help local small business owners, we regularly reference famous people to help clearly communicate how we are proposing to separate wage income from small business income.”
For his part, Curry said: “It was weird — that’s about it. There’s a lot of people wondering why I was called out, whatever the case may be, but mama, I made it.”
