The coroner’s office Thursday released the name of a woman shot to death by a gunman who walked up to a group of people in South Los Angeles and opened fire, also wounding a man.
Demya Martin, 18, was a Long Beach resident.
The attack, at about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 9100 block of South Western Avenue, was gang-related, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section. The gunman got into a vehicle and fled the scene.
The man was rushed to a hospital with stable vital signs, Eisenman said.
