A 35-year-old man who was fatally struck by a Metrolink train was identified Monday Man struck by the coroner’s office.

Tony Samir Akroush of Covina was standing on the tracks and died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office and sheriff’s Transit Services Bureau Lt. Lester Trull.

The lieutenant said his department was informed at 4:32 p.m. Sunday that train number 369, eastbound from San Bernardino to Union Station in downtown Los Angeles, struck a man near the intersection of Cypress Street and Banna Avenue.

The train that hit and killed Akroush was delayed about two hours after the crash and another eastbound train was stalled at the Covina Metrolink station for about 90 minutes, according to authorities.

The Covina Police Department was investigating the accident as a possible suicide but no immediate determination was made, according to the coroner’s office.

Last month, an eastbound train on that line killed a man in Rancho Cucamonga.
