At least three people were taken into custody Friday evening following pursuits in Azusa and Los Angeles and two children were located in the vehicle in Azusa.
A driver traveling at high speeds led Azusa police on a chase that went south on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway, then turned north on the 605 and east on the Foothill (210) Freeway, exiting Grand Avenue in Azusa and traveling on city streets in Azusa, then Irwindale and back into Azusa.
The driver surrendered in the 900 block of Alameda Avenue and was taken into custody, along with a woman passenger. Police then searched the vehicle and located the two children, both said to be girls, according to ABC7.
In the Los Angeles incident, Culver City police spotted a suspected reckless driver and began following the man until he crossed into Los Angeles around 9:45 p.m., at which time an LAPD helicopter located the vehicle in the Baldwin Hills/Crenshaw area, according to Officer Drake Madison of the Media Relations Division.
The driver took out some trash cans, a fire hydrant and hit a parked car before crashing near Redondo and Skylight places and running into the neighborhood, Madison said.
One person was detained, but it was unclear if he was the suspect police sought, Madison said.
