A fire in an industrial building in Santa Ana sent a thick plume of black smoke into the air Friday, but fire crews were able to contain the flames to a single structure and no injuries were reported.

The fire was reported shortly before 9 a.m. in the 2500 block of South Fairview Avenue, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters quickly called a second alarm on the blaze, then knocked down the flames in about 15 minutes, according to the OCFA. The fire was contained to a single unit of the complex.

Crews from the Costa Mesa and Fountain Valley fire departments also responded to the scene to assist with the blaze.

It was unclear what type of business was involved, and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
