A member of Jehovah’s Witnesses has settled her lawsuit in which she says she was wrongfully fired from the company that supplies hot dogs and sausages to Dodger Stadium as well as an employee staffing agency because she requested work schedule accommodations allowing her to attend worship services.

Attorneys for Blanca Ramos Herrera filed court papers on June 24 with Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Wendy Chang stating that the plaintiff’s suit against both Vernon-based food manufacturer Papa Cantella’s and the second firm, Tustin-based staffing agency PriorityWorkforce, was resolved.

No terms were divulged.

Chang had put the case on hold on March 5 after the parties agreed to try and resolve the case in mediation.

Herrera was hired in September 2021 to work as a janitor at Papa Cantella’s through staffing company PriorityWorkforce, the suit stated.

Although a Papa Cantella’s supervisor changed Herrera’s work schedule permitting her to attend the services, a PriorityWorkforce boss objected and harassed her, the suit alleges. When Herrera complained about the staffing agency supervisor’s actions, she was not allowed to return to Papa Cantella’s and was fired by both companies in November 2021, causing her financial losses and emotional distress, the suit stated.

In their court papers, Papa Cantella’s lawyers denied Herrera’s allegations and said they were barred by the statute of limitations.
