Angeles Mountain Partners LLC has acquired Mt. Waterman Ski Lifts LLC, assuming management and operations of Los Angeles County’s closest ski area.

Located an hour from downtown Los Angeles in the Angeles National Forest, the 390-acre Mount Waterman is known for pristine powder and diverse terrain.

Planned enhancements by the new owners include a modern snow-making system, tubing hill, new dining choices and a Waterman100 membership program offering private ski days, helipad access and other exclusive amenities, according to AMP.

“This is a special place, and most people my age — 43 — aren’t aware this area of L.A. exists,” AMP co-founder Joshua Shelton said in a statement. “It’s a national forest, and only an hour from the warming hut to sitting at the Dodger game. Go Blue! We can’t control the weather, but we can manage how many people gain access to the absolute best conditions our resort will have to offer, and that’s an honor we reserve for the Waterman100.”

The company announced Thursday that it plans a phased renovation and revitalization, with the introduction of modern amenities including a large special events venue, updated warming hut and club house buildings, mountain bike park and other year-round upgrades.
