A motorcyclist and a woman driving a Tesla were killed in a collision that caused both vehicles to plunge down a 200-foot embankment in Temescal Valley, authorities said Monday.
John Teply, 41, and Vickie Hultstrand, 44, both of Corona, were fatally injured shortly before noon Sunday on Knabe Road, just north of Camino Limon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officer Keith Ballantyne told City News Service that Teply, riding a motorcycle, and Hultstrand, at the wheel of her Tesla, collided for reasons still under investigation.
The vehicles went off the side of Knabe. Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived less than 20 minutes later and pronounced both victims dead at the scene.
A teenage girl and her younger female relative, whose names were not disclosed, were with Hultstrand and exited the vehicle after the crash with the help of good Samaritans.
They were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar for examination, but neither required hospitalization, according to the CHP.
Autopsies were pending Monday on Teply and Hultstrand.
Anyone with information was asked to contact the CHP’s Riverside office at 951-324-7410.
