A motorcyclist was killed Wednesday in a collision at a Woodcrest intersection.
The crash was reported just after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Gardner Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The agency said that the rider, whose identity was not immediately released, was traveling through the intersection at an unconfirmed speed when his bike impacted another vehicle, but the exact circumstances were unclear.
The victim was hurled onto the roadway, where good Samaritans came to his aid until Riverside County sheriff’s deputies and fire department paramedics arrived and initiated resuscitative measures, according to the CHP.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene 15 minutes later. No other injuries were reported.
There was no immediate word on the status of the other driver.
The area is under the CHP’s jurisdiction, and officers from the agency’s Riverside office were handling the preliminary investigation.
The intersection was partially shut down as of 5:30 p.m.
All lanes were expected to be re-opened within a couple of hours.
