A woman who sued former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, alleging he stole business from under her, sexually assaulted her twice during their dating relationship and used his company background to hack into her email as well as her online computer files, is now acting as her own lawyer.

Plaintiff Michelle Ritter was a Columbia University law and MBA student when the two met in 2020 and she proposed to him a potential investment in a sports tech startup she had been developing, according to her Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit.

Ritter’s former attorneys filed court papers on Friday with Judge Michael Small stating that the plaintiff is now representing herself. No reason was given for the change.

Schmidt, 70, and Ritter, 31, co-founded Steel Perlot, an AI and crypto investment company. Schmidt was married at the time, but he allegedly promised the plaintiff he would marry her.

Schmidt was Google’s CEO in 2001-11. He is attempting to compel arbitration of her claims during a hearing scheduled March 2 and the judge has placed a stay on the case.
