A motorcycle rider was killed Saturday after losing control of the bike on a Santa Ana freeway transition road and being from the overpass.
The crash was reported at 2:36 p.m. Saturday on the transition from the eastbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway to the northbound Santa Ana (5) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A witness told the CHP a male wearing all black flew off a blue motorcycle and landed in a dirt area of the right-hand shoulder. Witnesses also said the rider went over the overpass and was not moving on the ground below.
The Orange County coroner’s office was summoned to the scene, the CHP state. The rider’s name was not released.
The transition from the eastbound Garden Grove Freeway to the northbound Santa Ana Freeway was shut down for the investigation and clean up.
