Palm Springs International Airport Executive Director Harry Barrett Jr. will leave his role later this year for a new position in Sacramento, it was announced Monday.
“Harry has helped guide Palm Springs International Airport through an important period of growth and progress,” Palm Springs City Manager Scott Stiles said in a statement. “We appreciate his leadership and his commitment to a thoughtful transition. PSP has a strong foundation, experienced leadership throughout the organization, and important work already underway that will continue without interruption.”
Barrett will stay on as executive director until May 21. He will become assistant director of the Sacramento County Department of Airports on May 26.
As executive director, he has seen the airport experience roughly 30% passenger growth, helped expand the facility’s nonstop route map to more than a dozen destinations and helped strengthen airline partnerships, city officials said.
“Harry has played an important role in PSP’s recent success, helping strengthen airline relationships, improve the passenger experience, and advance critical planning efforts,” Airport Commission Chairman Kevin Corcoran said.
Officials said the city will share updates about an interim executive director at a later date, and airport operations will continue normal operations.
